A motocross helmet is lightweight, maximally ventilated, and has no visor. The forward-placed chin bar keeps your breath out of your goggles and allows air through when you're riding standing up and breathing heavily. You'll want nothing else on the track.

You always need motocross goggles

This is not an option but part of the helmet. Without goggles, you ride with unprotected eyes in an environment full of splashing sand and stones.Check that the goggles fit snugly to the helmet opening. If there's a gap between the edge of your goggles and the helmet, that's exactly where the dust you wanted to keep out will get in. Kits where the helmet and goggles are supplied together are coordinated.

Never buy a small adult helmet for a child. The proportions of a child's head are different, and the weight is too high for a neck that is still developing. The youth versions are built lighter.Also, don't buy a larger size in the hope that it will last longer: a helmet that can rotate does not protect.
