Motorcycle Jackets: Protection, Comfort, and the Right Season

A motorcycle jacket is the piece of your gear you notice the most. It determines whether you arrive dry, whether you overheat in traffic, and whether you come home with scrapes or worse after a fall. Textile is the most versatile choice. It can be made waterproof, often comes with removable thermal and rain linings, and is comfortable over a wide temperature range. For those who ride all year round, this is usually the logical jacket.Leather is more abrasion-resistant in a slide and fits more snugly on the body, making it the choice for sporty riding and track use. Less practical in the rain unless you wear a rain jacket over it.

Pay Attention to the Protection Class

Motorcycle clothing in Europe is classified from A to AAA, with AAA offering the heaviest protection. Additionally, there are protectors in the shoulders, elbows, and sometimes the back, which are separately designated as level 1 or level 2. When purchasing, pay attention to whether the back protector is included or if there is only a pocket for it: this makes a difference, and it is one of the most important protective pieces.

Try on a motorcycle jacket with the layer you normally wear underneath.
