Securing a motorcycle for transport

A motorcycle in a trailer or van is only safe if it cannot move and cannot bounce. Most damage occurs not because a strap comes loose, but because the motorcycle bounces on its suspension throughout the journey, causing the tie-down straps to gradually loosen. Securing the front wheel: SteadyStand

The SteadyStand clamps your front wheel so that the motorcycle remains upright without anyone having to hold it. There are versions for wheel sizes from 10 to 19 inches and from 15 to 21 inches, the 150 and 180 models in black, and a Cross and Cross Flex for dirt bikes.

Tie-down straps: ratchet or cam buckle

Ratchet straps are tightened with a lever. More power and the most reliable choice for heavier motorcycles. There are three levels: Essential, Premium and Pro, plus a Premium Deluxe with carrying bag. Cam Buckle straps are tightened by hand. Faster to use and less risk of overtightening, available as Essential, Pro and Premium. Excellent for lighter motorcycles and scooters.

Where to secure your motorcycle

This is where it most often goes wrong. Never secure to the handlebars themselves or to loose parts. The Buckle-Up handlebar strap distributes the force over the grips instead of at a single point. The Tyrefix in Essential, Pro and the ratchet version secures the rear wheel to the floor, preventing the motorcycle from sliding backward. The CapStrap is a transport security device that encloses the front fork without damaging the dust caps.

When securing, depress the front fork a bit so that the suspension is under tension and the straps cannot come loose during the ride.
