What the CE class means

This is the most important number on this page and determines at what speed the trousers will still protect you. Class A is the basic level, intended for urban traffic and lower speeds. Class AA lasts considerably longer and is the practical choice for mixed use, including provincial roads. Class AAA is the highest level, comparable to what you'd expect from leather. Regular jeans without certification will tear open within a few meters in a slide. The difference with AA jeans is not marginal.

Check if knee protectors are included or need to be ordered separately. Also pay attention to adjustable protector pockets: on a motorcycle, you sit with bent knees and the trousers slide up, so the protector must be at the correct height when you are seated, not when you are standing.
