Textile motorcycle trousers are the counterpart to your touring jacket: waterproof when needed, ventilated when possible, and with knee and hip protection. For those who cover long distances or ride all year round, these are the trousers that do the most work.

Alpinestars Drystar and Gore-Tex

The focus of this collection is on Alpinestars. The Andes is the best-known touring and adventure pant with Drystar, available in v2, v3, and v4, and in short and long versions. The Bogota Pro is in the same segment, with a separate Summer version for warm weather. The AMT-10R and AMT-8 Stretch feature Drystar XF, and at the top is the Nazca 3L GTX with Gore-Tex in a three-layer design.

Waterproof: how the membrane works

In trousers with a removable lining, the waterproof layer is separate. This is versatile, but the outer fabric can soak up water and dry slowly, and you have to stop to put the lining in if it starts raining. In laminated trousers, the membrane is bonded to the outer fabric, keeping it drier. This is more expensive but more comfortable on long wet days.

Pay attention to length and protector position

This is where most people make a mistake. When you're on the motorcycle, your knees are bent, causing the trouser leg to slide up. Trousers that seem to fit well when standing can end up with the knee protector on your thigh in the riding position.
