HGS has been building exhausts for motocross tracks and off-road use since 1988. The brand was founded by Henri Gorthuis, who worked as a mechanic in Grand Prix racing in the 1980s, and is now in its third generation of ownership. The exhausts are made in the Netherlands and are used worldwide by racing teams.

For a two-stroke engine, the header pipe determines the engine's character. HGS tunes the shape and volume to the engine block, focusing on manageable traction rather than an uncontrollable power surge.
