The brand was founded by Henri Gorthuis, who worked as a mechanic in Grand Prix racing in the 1980s, and is now in the hands of the third generation. The exhausts are made in the Netherlands and are used by racing teams worldwide.

For a two-stroke engine, the pipe determines the engine's character. HGS tailors the shape and volume to the engine block, focusing on manageable traction rather than a peak that's hard to control.
