Motorcycle Jeans: Protection That Looks Like Regular Pants

Motorcycle jeans are designed for rides where you don't want to arrive in touring pants. From the outside, they look like jeans, but inside they are reinforced with aramid or a durable lining, plus space for knee and hip protectors. You can get off your bike and walk around normally, without changing clothes.

Pay Attention to the Class: AA or A

This is the most important distinction, and the difference is greater than the letters suggest. Motorcycle clothing is tested and classified from A to AAA. An AA-certified pair of jeans will hold up significantly longer in a slide than a class A pair. For daily use on the road, AA is the sensible minimum. Also check whether the protectors are included. Some jeans come with empty pockets at the knee and hip, and jeans without protectors only protect against abrasions, not against the impact itself.

Leg Length Is More Important Here Than With Regular Pants

With motorcycle jeans, the length determines where your knee protector sits. Too long and it will drop below your knee, too short and it will be on your thigh. Because you sit with bent knees on a motorcycle, the pants also ride up. Many models here are therefore available in short leg lengths.
