Warm and Dry on Your Motorcycle

Two things ruin a ride faster than anything else: getting wet and getting cold. Usually, they come together, as wet clothing in the wind quickly cools you down. This collection features everything you need to stay dry and warm, from rain suits to heated clothing and thermal layers.

The Alpinestars Hurricane Rain v2 line includes rain jackets, rain pants, and complete rain suits, available in black and fluo yellow. Rain gear is worn over your regular motorcycle clothing, so if in doubt, choose the larger size. And always keep it in your pannier or tank bag: rain gear left at home is useless.

For the coldest days, there's the Gerbing 12V heated inner jacket, connected to your motorcycle battery. For warmth without power, there are the Leatt ADV Thermaflow mid layers in 3.5 and 5.5, and the Furygan Bjorn with Primaloft insulation. For the layer against your skin, there's the Furygan Active Long Sleeves Thermo 37.5 shirt, which wicks away moisture and dries quickly.

From Bowtex, you'll find shirts and leggings that are certified motorcycle clothing themselves: the Optimal line in class AA and the Elite V2 in class AAA, for men and women. From Knox, there's the Action Pro MK2 shirt for women and the Action Pro protection pants. These are worn under regular clothing and are intended for protection, not for warmth.

How to Build Your Layers

From inside out: a base layer that wicks away moisture, over that insulation or heating, and as the outermost layer something windproof and waterproof. Wind is the biggest thief of warmth on a motorcycle, so that outer layer does most of the work.
