What it does
The damping of your rear shock absorber comes from oil being forced through small passages. If that oil gets old or air gets in, the damping will foam and the rear will feel spongy.
What to look out for
Revising a shock absorber requires bleeding under pressure and the right tools. If you don't have them, have it done. An incorrectly filled or unbled damper works worse than the old one.
