Putoline Medium ensures your gearbox shifts smoothly and the gears remain protected. Content 1 liter.
Viscosity 80W. The viscosity your engine requires is stated in the owner's manual and varies by model and year of manufacture.
When you need separate transmission oil
Engines with separate lubrication have their own filling for the gearbox. This is often the case with two-stroke engines, and with some scooters and quads. In most four-stroke engines, the gearbox shares the engine oil, so you don't need this.
If you're unsure, check if your engine has a separate drain plug and filler opening for the gearbox. If not, it shares the oil with the engine block.
What to look for
- Transmission oil comes in different viscosities. Heavier is not automatically better: too thick makes shifting stiffer, especially when it's cold.
- If the clutch runs in the same oil, use an oil suitable for that purpose.
- The capacity of a gearbox is small, often less than a liter. Measure rather than filling by eye.
Changing
Gearbox oil gets dirty due to gear wear, not combustion. Change it according to the interval in your owner's manual, and more often for motocross and enduro. A gray or milky color indicates water in the gearbox, in which case something else is going on than just old oil.
