Putoline N-Tech® Oil Trans GP lubricates the gears in your gearbox. Contents 1 liter.
From Putoline's racing line.
When you need separate gearbox oil
Engines with separate lubrication have their own filling for the gearbox. This is the case with many two-strokes, and with some scooters and quads. In most four-stroke engines, the gearbox shares the engine oil, so you don't need this.
If you're unsure, check if your engine has a separate drain plug and filler opening for the gearbox. If not, it shares the oil with the engine block.
What to pay attention to
- Gearbox oil comes in various viscosities. Heavier is not automatically better: too thick makes shifting more difficult, especially when cold.
- If the clutch runs in the same oil, use an oil suitable for that purpose.
- The capacity of a gearbox is small, often less than a liter. Measure rather than filling by eye.
Changing oil
Gearbox oil gets dirty from gear wear, not combustion. Change according to the interval in your owner's manual, and more frequently for cross and enduro. A grey or milky color indicates water in the gearbox, in which case something other than just old oil is going on.
