Short answer: choose motorcycle clothing that is truly made for women, not a small men's size. Women's models have narrower shoulders, a tailored cut, more room at the hips and often shorter sleeves and legs. That puts the armour in the right place, and that is exactly what matters. Measure yourself, compare with the brand's size chart and test the fit in your riding position.
More and more women ride motorcycles, and the range of women's motorcycle clothing has grown considerably in recent years. Still, finding the right size is not always easy. In this guide you will read what to look for, and see a few strong choices for each item.
Why women's-specific motorcycle clothing?
- Armour in the right place: in a men's jacket, the elbow and shoulder armour often sits too low or too far out for many women. In a fall, it then does not protect properly.
- No flapping fabric: a jacket that is too loose flaps in the wind and is tiring on long rides.
- Comfort in your riding position: a cut that suits your waist and hips does not ride up and does not pinch.
The motorcycle jacket
With a motorcycle jacket, pay attention to shoulder width, sleeve length and the waist. Adjusters at the waist and sleeves help you pull the jacket snug so it does not flap. If you ride all year round, choose a waterproof jacket with a removable liner. If you mostly ride in summer, a mesh jacket with a separate rain jacket is more pleasant.

The motorcycle pants
Motorcycle pants for women have more room at the hips and a higher waist. Check the inseam length and, while seated, make sure the knee armour sits on your knees. Motorcycle leggings are popular: they fit like regular leggings, but are reinforced and have room for armour.
Gloves
Women's motorcycle gloves have narrower fingers and a smaller palm. A glove should fit snugly without pinching: your fingertips should just not press against the end. If you also ride in the cold, heated gloves are a real help.
Boots
With boots, check whether the model is available in smaller sizes and whether the shaft fits well around your calf. A shaft that is too wide lets in wind and water. When trying them on, wear the socks you also wear on the bike.

Testing the fit
- Sit down and stretch your arms forward as if you are holding handlebars.
- Your sleeves stay over your wrists and the elbow armour stays on your elbows.
- The jacket does not ride up at your lower back.
- While seated, the knee armour sits on your knees.
- There is room for a thin layer underneath, without it feeling tight.
Frequently asked questions
Can I wear a men's jacket as a woman?
You can, but the armour often does not sit properly and the jacket is too loose at the waist. A women's model usually fits better and therefore also protects better.
Do women's sizes differ from regular clothing sizes?
Every brand fits differently. Start from your measured bust, waist and hip circumference and compare them with the brand's size chart.
What are motorcycle leggings?
Motorcycle leggings fit like regular leggings, but are made of reinforced fabric and have room for armour. Ideal if you want the look of everyday clothing.
I am petite, what should I look for?
Look for short sleeves and legs and for models with their own, smaller sizing. If in doubt, send us your measurements.
Can I exchange if the size is not right?
Yes, within the 14-day cooling-off period, as long as the product is unworn and in its original condition.
