Putoline DOT 4 transfers the pressure from your lever to the brake caliper. Volume 500 ml.
Why Brake Fluid Ages
Glycol-based brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air. The more water it contains, the lower its boiling point. During prolonged braking, the fluid can then locally start to boil, and vapor can be compressed. You will notice this when a lever suddenly comes all the way to the handlebar.
Most manufacturers recommend periodically replacing brake fluid, even if you don't ride many miles. This interval is stated in your owner's manual.
What to Pay Attention To
- DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 are both glycol-based. DOT 5 is silicone-based and should not be mixed with them.
- Always use an unopened bottle. An opened bottle has already absorbed moisture.
- Brake fluid can damage paint. Cover your tank and immediately rinse any spills with water.
